I have been fortunate enough to have experienced varied careers, worked with people from all walks of life and gained an array of skills to draw upon. Having worked in teaching, welfare, customer service and security, I learnt how vital it was to build rapport and trust when working with people. These days I put those hard-earned skills to use working as a celebrant, on a mission to offer a ceremony that celebrates and encompasses all of your values, beliefs and vision.
I am a happy wife and mother to a beautiful little boy. I am passionate about working with couples and families to design a personalised ceremony, with meaning and substance that you will be able to reflect upon for the rest of your lives with fond memories. There is no greater way to acknowledge the importance of marriage and ceremony than being a celebrant.
I have grown up witnessing many Greek Orthodox weddings. Greek Orthodox weddings are beautiful and symbolic ceremonies, filled with the spirit of tradition.
It wasn’t until I met the love of my life and became engaged that my journey to becoming a celebrant began. When we started organising our own wedding and thinking about our wedding ceremony, my then fiancée who is Australian born and raised and not religious at all, was willing to be baptized in the Greek Orthodox Church.
The scene from the 2002 cult classic film My Big Fat Greek Wedding where Ian Miller is being baptized in a child’s blow up wading pool was hilarious but one that I was not keen to play out in our lives, so we decided for a civil ceremony where we could exchange vows and both fully appreciate the joy of our ceremony.
Over the years, upon reflection of our wedding ceremony and observing other ceremonies, I have often thought about what I would have liked to be included in our ceremony and how given the opportunity, I would be able to incorporate these special ideas into writing and presenting ceremonies.
My epiphany came when, a recently engaged friend asked when I was going to become a celebrant because she really wanted me to officiate her wedding. Like everyone in life, I was looking to find a happy, healthy family-life balance and another career that is just as rewarding as teaching. A career shift to celebrancy felt perfect.
I have a calm and warm demeanour; this enables me to bring out the best in people that I have the privilege to work with to create a ceremony that is engaging, heartfelt, relaxed and spirited and that accurately represents you and fully meets your needs.
I pride myself on being professional, organised and attentive through the whole process from our first meeting, right through to the completion of your ceremony and all legal requirements. I would be honoured to be entrusted to work with you, to help make your special occasion one of the highlights of your lives. If you feel I could be the celebrant for you I would be delighted to hear from you.
